2026 has already delivered some amazing games, but some of this gaming news is simply too good not to repeat. Nintendo is celebrating forty years of The Legend of Zelda, Blizzard has opened the door to the future of several legendary franchises, and cozy-game fans have an entire calendar of charming new worlds to explore.
Some of these announcements have me planning new streams. Others unlocked memories I had almost forgotten. One already convinced me to preorder, and several more have gone directly onto my wishlist.
Release-date note: Games and expansions can change during development. Always check the official game page or storefront for the latest platform-specific timing before purchasing.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Keepsake Sea
Disney Dreamlight Valley is preparing to take us somewhere completely new with The Keepsake Sea. The expansion promises four new areas to explore and decorate, beekeeping, Golden Honey crafting, and a mystery centered on the enormous Everoak Tree.
That sounds like the perfect mixture of cozy decorating, resource gathering, storytelling, and Disney magic. A larger reveal is expected on October 21, when we should learn much more ahead of the planned November 2026 release window.
- Which characters will join the Valley?
- How will beekeeping and Golden Honey work?
- What furniture, clothing, recipes, and companions are coming?
- How important will the Everoak Tree be to the story?
Aniimo Is Almost Here—and I Absolutely Recommend It

Aniimo is especially exciting for me because I had the opportunity to play during the beta. I have continued promoting it because I genuinely loved what I experienced. It is colorful, adventurous, incredibly cute, and filled with collectible creatures that immediately make you want to learn more about them.
The launch timing may vary by platform and region, with the PC release appearing around September 15–16 and mobile following later in September. If you enjoy creature collecting, fantasy exploration, character customization, action-based combat, and cute companions with real personality, I highly recommend joining this little adventure.
The Legend of Zelda Celebrates 40 Years

Nintendo’s celebration of The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary is hitting me directly in the nostalgia. Ocarina of Time is the kind of game that becomes attached to an entire part of your life—the music, characters, puzzles, locations, and feeling of stepping into Hyrule are unforgettable.
The newly announced edition is listed for November 5, 2026, and yes, I already preordered my copy. I cannot wait to experience Hyrule again and see how this version introduces such an important adventure to a new generation.
Nintendo’s Huge New Lineup
The latest Nintendo news also brought significant announcements, new content, ports, enhanced editions, and updates for a packed collection of franchises:
- Metroid Ravenous
- Kirby and the World Beyond
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
- New editions of Pikmin 4 and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
- Persona 6 and Persona 4 Revival
- MECCHA CHAMELEON
- Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition
- Mega Man: Dual Override
That is an unusually strong mix of RPGs, horror, action, nostalgia, and completely new ideas. My Switch wishlist did not need this kind of encouragement.
BlizzCon Opened With Huge Announcements

World of Warcraft: Forever
World of Warcraft: Forever has me ready to dive back into Azeroth. This new experience is expected to revisit the Vanilla era while adding new zones, quests, dungeons, raids, a new playable race, updated visual options, and more reasons to explore outdoors again. Its full launch is currently expected on November 4, 2026.
The question for me is whether it can capture that old sense of community and discovery while still giving returning players enough surprises. I will absolutely be loading up to find out.
StarCraft Returns in a Very Different Form

The newly announced StarCraft project is moving away from traditional real-time strategy and into open-world shooter territory. That is a huge change, but this announcement is personal for me: when I was little, I used to pull a chair up beside my dad and watch him play StarCraft.
Because of that memory, this may be the one I have to test. It will be interesting to see whether a completely different genre can still feel like the universe longtime fans remember.
Diablo V and the Future of Sanctuary

Diablo V: Forging the Next Era has been announced for spring 2029. Diablo is one of my all-time favorite franchises, so I am ridiculously excited even though the wait is going to be long.
In the meantime, Diablo IV is expected to keep growing with new seasonal content, class additions—including the Amazon—and expanded platform support. Blizzard also announced a partnership with Netflix to bring the Diablo universe to an animated series. Sanctuary’s gothic environments, tragic characters, demons, and enormous mythology could translate beautifully into animation.
Overwatch Is Adding More Chaos
Blizzard also revealed a new vampire-inspired Support hero coming later this year, alongside additional hero changes and new content. Between the dramatic theme and Support role, this could easily become one of the most talked-about Overwatch additions of the year. PlayStation is about to be lit.
Gamescom Games Still on My Radar
NO LAW
NO LAW is a cyber-noir, open-world shooter built around combat, stealth, investigation, exploration, and player choice. The dangerous city setting and flexible ways to approach problems make it one I want to keep watching.
Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert has continued working through fixes while preparing more content. The October 15 expansion is currently one of the next big dates on my radar.
Cozy and Notable Games to Watch
Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern — 2027

This looks like Baldur’s Gate 3 meets Stardew Valley: a fantasy tavern, exhausted adventurers passing through, relationships to build, and a cozy home base connected to a much larger world. Instead of always fighting the monster, you create the place where heroes return to eat, rest, and share their stories.

Witchbrook — 2026

Attend a magical college, study witchcraft, make friends, explore, fish, farm, craft, customize your character, and experience changing seasons in the seaside town of Mossport. An October date has appeared in some listings, but I am watching for final confirmation before permanently circling the day.
Lou’s Lagoon — Out Now

Fly a seaplane across a tropical archipelago, complete deliveries, improve your home, meet island residents, and investigate the mystery surrounding Lou’s disappearance. It looks perfect for anyone who wants exploration and progression without losing that relaxing cozy-game atmosphere.
Woodo — September 16
A tactile diorama puzzle game where wooden scenes gain color, animation, and life as you assemble them. This looks especially lovely for players who enjoy miniatures, gentle puzzles, and visual storytelling.
BloomKeeper — September 16

Guide adorable creatures through a real-time tactical adventure and help return life to a world covered in ash. Cute creatures, environmental restoration, strategy, and cooperative play are a very strong combination.
Huglings — September 17

A peaceful adventure for one to four players featuring farming, crafting, decorating, exploration, cooperation, and a village in need of rebuilding. It sounds like the kind of low-pressure multiplayer world that could become a genuine comfort game.
Wand & Order: Tidy Up the Magic Shop! — September 18

Clean and organize a shop filled with spells, potions, enchanted objects, and magical chaos. It supports solo and online co-op play and may be perfect for anyone who finds tidying simulations relaxing—but would prefer to do it somewhere filled with magic.
Danchi Days — October 29

A slice-of-life adventure about reviving a summer festival in a Japanese housing complex. Beneath its cheerful art appears to be a heartfelt story about neighbors, community, change, and finding wonder in everyday life.
Loftia — 2026

A cozy multiplayer life simulator across floating islands, with sustainable farming, renewable energy, crafting, gathering, home customization, exploration, and community quests. The idea of connecting personal islands into neighborhoods feels especially promising.
Petit Planet — Date to Be Confirmed

HoYoverse’s cozy cosmic life simulation combines character relationships, decorating, cultivation, exploration, and the ability to develop your own tiny planet. Some calendars use December 31, 2026, but that can be a placeholder, so I am waiting for firm confirmation before treating it as the final launch date.
My Gaming Calendar Is Officially in Trouble
There is something here for almost every kind of player. We have enormous nostalgic returns through Zelda, StarCraft, and Diablo; new chapters and editions for major action, RPG, horror, and adventure franchises; and an entirely different wave of peaceful games involving magical schools, floating islands, wooden dioramas, tiny creatures, fantasy taverns, and seaplanes.
The releases I am watching most closely are Aniimo, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, World of Warcraft: Forever, Diablo V, The Keepsake Sea, Witchbrook, Loftia, and Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern.
Aniimo is nearly here. Zelda is preordered. World of Warcraft may be pulling me back into Azeroth. Diablo V has me excited years before release. And my cozy-game wishlist somehow grows every time I open Steam.
Which announcement has you most excited—and which one should I stream first?
